A Thanks To Our Sponsors

June 2, 2009 by sylvie

If you are following this blog you probably know that I ran my first marathon last Sunday. In fact, you might even have donated to the associated fundraising campaign. Well, I am happy to say that I finished the race in good form. It took me around 4 hours and 17 minutes - slightly slower than what I had hoped for but still pretty good considering that I had picked up an annoying knee injury during the last phase of the training and wasn't even sure I could finish the course under these circumstances. And not only did I complete the race honorably; as you can see from Bernd's finish line picture, I really had fun doing it!

I might post a more detailed race report later (not sure it would make a very interesting read for all but the hardiest athletes :-) but for now I just want to shout out a big "Thank you" to all my sponsors. By the time all the pledged donations including my own match have come in I will have raised over 700 GBP for the Guide Dogs for the Blind! (If the picture looks like I am strangling the poor guide dog it's because I was trying to keep her from licking the salt off my arms...)

BTW, running a marathon is one thing, but spotting a runner at the crowded finish line and taking a reasonable shot of her is a totally different ballgame. Well done, Bernd!

& very nice photos. You really do look happy crossing the finish line!
Drupal quirk alert: when I'm typing in the comments and I use backspace it takes me out of the comment box and back to the home page. (except that now it doesn't.) Okay. How about drupal randomly boots me out of the comment box and back to the home page. Back in Madison now, with reliable internet. W00t! Ann

Drupal Alert

Thanks for the quirk alert. Of all drupal oddities that's certainly one of the odder ones... In fact, it might even be more of a browser hangup than a drupal bug. (I wouldn't be completely surprised if it went away after the next browser restart.)

Either way thanks for the pointer. I'll put it on my ever growing list of Drupal things that need investigating.
